US: Student activism that matters
By: Jonathan Hollander, Columbia Spectator, April 15, 2009
Two weeks ago, a group of pro-Israel students and I traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with congressional representatives about the America-Israel relationship. In addition to giving me new insight into the driving force behind America's Israel policy, the experience showcased the massive divergence between Columbia's anti-Israel activists and the American mainstream. You see, while the Columbia Palestine Forum is busy convincing everyone to boycott Israel, our lobbying mission took a practical and constructive stand in favor of peace and coexistence, something that I believe is sorely lacking among Columbia's anti-Israel radicals.

US: New York district attorney exposes Iranian illicit financial transactions
By: WSJ, April 9, 2009
There's good news, and some really bad news, about Iran's efforts to evade U.S. sanctions and infiltrate the U.S. financial system. The good news is that Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau's indictment this week of the Chinese firm LIMMT and its principal Li Fang Wei exposed some of Iran's illicit transactions. The bad news is that Tehran wasn't seeking U.S. currency simply as a safe haven in a turbulent market. The mullahs wanted dollars to buy critical ingredients in the production of long-range missiles and atomic warheads. And Mr. Morgenthau says they got them.

"With this ruling, and its exemplary performance during the trial, the Peruvian court has shown the world that even former heads of state cannot expect to get away with serious crimes."

Awesome Words

And that is why I swore never to be silent whenever and whereever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.
