Singapore Democrats

This elections mark another important turning point. Not only are former top civil servants joining the SDP - ex-private principal secretary to Mr Goh Chok Tong and former SAF medical officer Colonel Dr Ang Yong Guan are both standing as SDP candidates - commercial entities are also joining in the effort to bring about demcracy in this island of ours.

Conti Components, a company specialising in bicycle equipment (www.conticomponents.com), offered us free advertising space on its website.

In addition, Billy Bombers, a family restuarant chain has invited our candidates and election agents to complimentary food and drinks at its outlets during the election period. We probably won't have time to take up the offer but we are grateful for the kind gesture.

In the past, the commercial sector has kept a long distance from the opposition for fear of antagonising the PAP and losing business contacts and opportunities.

To be sure, many businesspeople still shun the opposition. From this episode, however, it seems that our Singaporean businesses are slowly shedding their fear and coming forward to join in the effort of making our island a democratic one.

There seems to be a stirring of our nation's soul this elections. It has been a soul that has long been silenced out of fear. Fear never made a country strong, and we want our Singapore to be strong.

To all of you who have shown your support for us, we say a heartfelt thank you. You do this not for any one party but for the nation that we all love.

We must all remember that the PAP is not Singapore and Singapore is not the PAP. As long as we have that clear in our minds we will know where our loyalty and priorities should go.

I think that "beenthereseenit"'s suggesstion is good: support those businesses taht support democracy, but more importantly, let them - especially their supervisory staff - know why you are supporting them.

Additinal point, when you let busnisses know why you are supporting tehir business, you are in fact saying that itr is profitable to support democracy and the opposition party that fights for it.

I was just at your rally in Woodlands Stadium...

I really do hope you can win Sembawang GRC and kick Khaw Boon Hua back to Malaysia with his parents !!!

I have to admit that I made the mistake of voting for PAP 5 years ago because I was naive then and fresh out of university...

These past 5 years have opened up my eyes to the sorry state of our country..

Never again will I make the same mistake of voting for PAP which has sold out Singaporeans' rights...

U will have my vote and my father's vote...
A pity my mum is a PR and she can't vote...

Even though our tiny 2 votes may not make any difference.. I hope we can inspire the rest of the Singaporeans to be brave and pledge their votes to SDP or whichever opposition it may be...

We have to ACT now before Singaporeans become a minority in our OWN soil !!!!!

means alot for cycling enthusiasts and also uncles who cycle, actually it means alot to all Singaporeans who cycle. what am i saying, too excited by the good news!

btw, i have already seen lots of people who cycle to SDP rally like ytd jurong stadium and today woodlands stadium. good lah, SDP for better health, excercise and cycling :)) good image really. y dont accept Billy Bombers offer? lol, was so hungry at just now :P

wow the cycling website is cool! surely i will buy from them now. i need a new front wheel for my GIANT Mountain Bike anyway LOL! win-win!

next elections I wont be surprised if SDP is has Happy Meal with Danny, Nike running shoes, OSIM Danny massage chair, how about Dr Chee eyewear too? :)) in case u dunno, Obama appeared in Xbox & Playstation games advertisements during election lol.

Just a suggestion, when all else fails. The best way to ensure our elderly folks do not vote the PAP in out of fear is to tell them this:
"Mum and Dad, as much as I love you and want to take care of you, if you vote the PAP and they come into power again, they are going to make me pay more and more. As such, I have no option but to cut your allowance to finance these blood suckers. So please vote for the opposition so I can gladly take good care of you and continue to furnish you with whatever I can. It's better for you to live in luxury than those undeserving crooks right?"
I guarantee the fear of losing your monthly contribution will outweigh the fear of the PAP! Try it and let's celebrate on the 7th May!
