Dr Chee Soon Juan's video response to PM Lee Hsien Loong's National Day Rally speech has surpassed all previous SDP video viewership. In two days since it was first uploaded, the number reached almost 10,000 views. Watch video here.

This clearly demonstrates the concern that Singaporeans have over the issue of foreigners in this country. In the video Dr Chee focuses on the danger and recklessness of the PAP's policy of flooding Singapore with foreign workers.

Another video that generated such high viewership was the party's National Day message which featured several teenage Singaporeans (see here).

The Democrats recognise the concern that Singaporeans have over the issue of foreign workers in Singapore and we are determined to speak up and warn the people over the consequences of such an ill-managed policy.

Singaporeans must shake themselves out of complacency and stop thinking that the PAP has everything figured out and that we can just leave things to the ministers. The recent floods, the security lapses, the shortage of HDB flats, etc have shown that the ministers have talked a good talk but when it comes to the real test, they have been found wanting.

The SDP will continue to reach out to the people and warn them of the dangers of relying on the PAP. One of the ways of doing this is through the use of Internet videos.

Over the years we have used this tool to present the party and our policies to the electorate. As we progressed we have sought to improve the quality of the videos and will continue to do so. It has taken much time and commitment to produce these videos but the effort has been worth it.

We have been able to do this only because more people have come to join the party and provided us with the necessary expertise to carry out such an undertaking.

We thank all our viewers for your support and for growing with our videos. Our past videos can be viewed here.

  • intanbiru - Which is mightier?
"The pen is mightier than the sword". But then, came the Internet. The word 'knowlegde' takes on a whole new meaning. Information at your fingertips truly takes on a new dimension - click the mouse's button with your finger. The sea of information is so mind-boggling that you can drown in it if you do not know how to swim. Mightier still is the Internet.
  • Ahem - MRT Line Loading / Foreign Talent
With the influx of Foreigner, i do agree with LHL that ir will improve the country economic position and strength. But take note the difference btw the definition of Foreign Talent and Foreign Workers.
Also i believe not all so call foreign talent/workers can truly contribute to Singapore economy, we hv no filtering and qualification procedure that can truly ensure they are qualified. One method is prior to giving them a PR, it will be good for the first 5 yrs of working with local singaporean to let them be assess by local singaporean whom they work with to ascertain that they are able not only to integrate to our society but also how we can respect them through their contribution and talent that we can tapped into and learn from as well as to welcome them with open arms. I think our leaders will agree with us with this policy it is a win-win situation.
I think our leaders can start off to put two stream of ppl, the younger singaporean to be station on an offshore branch company and also those back home country and put them as the leader in the organisation overseas to ensure that our top management or dept head is always a local Singpaorean.
In Qatar, they have a qatarian developee program and we can actually use this to enhance our local talent as well. We will co-share those experience within those offshore branch to enhance our competitiveness too. This is a way to show to foreigner that SIngpoarean Citizen comes first.... Keppel and Sembcorp hv many branches oversea, it will be good to let us younger generation to expereince global competitiion and gain experience this way maintaining a high level of competency via this policy.

Also further to the increase to 6.5million, my concern it may not only put more stress on the train loading capacity but also to the overall soil foundation or structures as this may pose added stresses for interchanges with many lines over each other. Incidents happens at a catastrophic timing, we cannot assume anything but a hairline crack is all it takes.

Honestly, Singaporean locally born here must come first in everything as that will be an indication of our rights here of a past and historic immigrant decendents.

Awesome Words

The Government of the absolute majority, instead of the Government of all the people, is but the Government of the strongest interests; and when not efficiently checked, it is the most tyrannical and oppressive that can be devised.
