Singapore Democrats

In this episode we get up close with Dr James Gomez who was a candidate with the Workers' Party in the 2006 general elections. He currently teaches at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and heads a political group in Singapore called Singaporeans for Democracy.

This will be the final episode of Let's Talk in the present series. We will be taking a short break to work on another video project in the next several weeks after which we will return with a brand new series of interviews with Singaporean personalities.

In the meantime, visitors can watch past episodes of this programme here.

Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew has called Gomez a "liar" and dared the WP to sue the government.
  • joanna - Poor production values
Interesting content but the video has 3 major problems.

    1) The presenter speaks English with Ah Beng accent

Isn't there anyone who can speak proper English in the SDP? Is Dr Chee the only person who can speak proper English? I must say Ti Lik's English is an embarassment and the video would have been more enjoyable if the presenter can speak proper English

    2) James Gomez thinks he has pretty legs

The producer of the video ought to be fired for not telling James to put his leg down. It is an eyesore to the viewers

    3) The speakers never acknowledged the presence of the viewers

They talk to themselves, never look at the camera, and the camera man never moved to shoot the speakers face. Oh well, they can talk to themselves and ignore the viewers, they may get well get ignored when it comes to elections

Apart from the above 3 points, good work!

Hi joanna, thank you for honest feedback which I'm sure will improve the quality of SDP's future video productions.

On point 3, most talkshows out there don't have the interviewee looking directly at the camera actually. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sxy9XieBETs

    And another example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKmhsgVPlA0

    And another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ki4UKsI8bms

Looking at the camera and addressing the audience in done mostly in messaged based videos, like these ones:
