Five Singaporean members of the Jemaah Islamiah (JI) terrorist network, who were detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA), have been released on restriction orders by the Singapore Government.

In a statement Monday, the Home Affairs Ministry said brothers Muhamad Ismail Anuwarul, Abdul Rashid and Abdul Nassir were released last March 28.

The others, Ab Wahab Ahmad and Sanin Riffin, were released Sunday.

The ministry said the siblings were members of the Malaysian JI network and were previously detained in Malaysia.

The three men were arrested upon their deportation to Singapore and detained under Singapores ISA in March 2006.

Ab Wahab and Sanin were detained in September 2002.

The ministry said the five men had been cooperative in investigations and shown progress in rehabilitation, including religious counselling.

They were assessed to no longer pose a security threat that required detention, it added.

  • Mike - time to act
It is perhaps the right time to arrest Chee Soon Juan to take over the places vacanted by the JI.

One day Mike, when something really awful happens to you, I hope you think back about all the mean things you've said and realize the phrase, "what goes around comes around"

ISD: Where you think MSK would most likely be?

Mike: I would start with Geylang.

    ISD: Why?

Mike: Because he was perverted and infiltrated by people like me.

What can be done if Chee is really arrested?

I think Mike has a valid point that we really need to think about.

The PAP would really be digging a deep grave for themselves if they did that.

I don't expect to lack strategy till that extent.

ISA for Chee. He will be damned very happy to be arrested under ISA. Do you know why? Very simple, he will be able to beg for more money from his foreign friends who love their great hero who always champion for every damned things but not the well-being of Singaporeans.
  • Muhammad Shamin - Not guilty until proven
Are their involvement in the terrorist activities really proven?

If not, why is it that SDP says that they are terrorist?
  • Uncle Ver SG - Terrorism
    What happened to Salam Reformasi?

JI is a terrorist organization, recognized by Malaysia and Indonesia as such and have done their part in fighting terrorism.

Its ok lah. Singapore is soft on terrorism, go ask Chin Peng the Malaysian Commie Terrorist in Chief who is allowed to give talk in NUS while CSJ cannot leh. Don't mention the magic escape of Kastari as well.

Maybe when USA capture Osama Bin Laden, they can turn him over to Singapore to reform and give a great speech in NUS as well.

But I have to agree: Innocent until proven guilty. Give them a fair trial, based on the evidence and convict them. I thought PAP law courts are world class one....

You mean the well-being of certain Singaporeans, paid $10000 per day by the public to lose terrorist suspects in custody, to extract the maximum amount of money from the public as possible....

PAP Internet brigade is pathetic. Its galling that the Singaporeans' monies are wasted on these .

I think that headline and all content is posted directly from the news agency reporting it.
