FORUM-ASIA commends Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) for its recent commitment to further human rights protection and promotion, by signing the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance (CED) but calls the government to further its commitments at the regional level.

This statement is a response to the press release by Timor-Leste National Alliance for an International Tribunal (ANTI), where HAK Association is a member.

FORUM-ASIA has issued a statement to express its deep concerns over the arrest of five South Korean human rights defenders for violating the Act on Assembly and Demonstrations on 6 November. The court subsequently issued a preventive detention order on 8 November 2008, and denied them bail.
