DAVID CHUA CHUAN SEAH  -  The Politics Of Retreat--And A New Political Syste     Mon, 06 Oct 2008 1:33 pm
The core group of power-players in the Singapore establishment's network of almost absolute control will not relinquish their power easily.

The hardliners among them will fight for control of power among the members of the political and economic elite.

Will they, somehow, decide to change course--even at the risk of antagonizing the top man?

Changing course, for this core group of power-players, means embarking on what Russell Heng has called "the politics of retreat".

Such a retreat ordered by the core group of power-players will blow away the PAP's aura of invincibility, established through the years.

A new political system will be born!

With Kenneth Jeyaretnam entering the fray...it's upgrading time for all. Congrats! More democracy, internal and external, not less!
