Awesome Words

Each time a man stands up for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope and, crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

Dear Madam Yeong,

The court transcript which you produced after being pressed has confirmed your dishonesty.

You wrote in your letter to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ): "Having lost [the case], Dr. Chee in open court then called the Singapore leaders 'murderers, robbers, child molesters' and 'rapists.'"

You cleverly omitted the phrase that I had said to Mr Davinder Singh: "...you might as well throw it in..." (see below). By doing so you hide the fact that I was referring to Mr Singh's wild conclusions, and that since he was making all these allegations, he might as well throw in these terms.

This is a far cry from me saying that the Lees committed murder, robbery, rape and had molested children.

Your letter was not even a case of taking my words out of context, it was a wholesale twist of imputing to me something I was not saying. It is childish, unbecoming and a gross lack of intellectual decency.

In the audio-recording there was laughter in the courtroom after I told Mr Singh that he might as well throw in murderers, robbers, child molesters and rapists. (See below) You again omitted this portion in your letter to the WSJ to make it look like I have gone off the deep-end to call the Lees these names.

I also wrote in my letter to the WSJ: “Mdm Yeong also says that 'Singapore upholds free speech.' Yes, and Mr Mugabe has just been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.” By the standard of your logic, you will no doubt say that I have claimed that the brutal Zimbabwean dictator is indeed a Nobel Peace Laureate.

Every time you make such wild claims, including your boss Mr Lee Kuan Yew calling me a psychopath, you degrade yourselves and the offices you hold.

On another matter, Mr Lee testified in court that the International Bar Association (IBA) president had sent a letter to the Law Society of Singapore (LSS) complimenting Singapore on its judiciary. The IBA denies sending the letter and the LSS confirms that it has not received such one.

Would you ask Mr Lee to produce the letter to refute the two organisations? This is important as it was part of the evidence that Mr Lee tendered in court under oath.

By the way you have still not answered why, as a civil servant, you are writing letters for the Minister Mentor when this is his personal matter and not a state one?

Secretary-General

Yeong Yoon Yin's letter to Today

Your report "Nothing to do with political freedom" (3 July 2008) refers to my letter to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and to Dr Chee Soon Juan's response published on his website.

In my letter to the WSJ, I said that in the recent defamation cases, Dr Chee had called Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew 'murderers, robbers, child molesters' and 'rapists' in open court.

Dr Chee alleged that I had lied, and challenged me to produce the relevant transcript.

I enclose p. 115 of the verbatim court reporting transcript of the hearing on28 May 2008. Line 11 onwards reads:

Mr Davinder Singh: " ... And to conclude on Dr Chee's submissions, he says that he doesn't wish Mr Lee Kuan Yew and Mr Lee Hsien Loong ill. In that same breath, he says he stands by The New Democrat article, which alleged that they are 'criminals, corrupt, and covered up matters in the NKF'. And under his breath he's now just said 'murderers and robbers'."

Dr Chee: "And rapists, too, you might as well throw it in, you know, right? Child molesters". [SDP: This was followed by laughter in the courtroom.]

Mr Singh: "And this is the man who says "I don't wish them ill".

Dr Chee has once again lied to Singaporeans.

Yeoong Yoon Ying
Press Secretary to Minister Mentor

(SDP:Today completely ignored Dr Chee's letter to the WSJ and only published Mdm Yeong's response.)

Man In The Mirror  -  EXPOSE PAP govt to the whole world.    Fri, 04 Jul 2008 11:22 pm
To SDP :

EXPOSE these PAP rubbish in the Internet, YouTube, Blogs, etc., for the whole world to see what sort of person LKY is.

Respect All but Fear None !!
Anonymous  -     Fri, 04 Jul 2008 11:29 pm
What kind of spokesperson, and probably a highly paid one, have LKY got?

Can't even tell who was actually making the allegation! Maybe can't even understand English!

It is clear as crystal that it was Singh who made the allegation and not Chee.
Sylvester Lim  -  Thank God for the Internet    Fri, 04 Jul 2008 11:51 pm
These people had in the past skewed the truth with impunity as they controlled the only source of information. Thank God for the Internet as it is now difficult for them to do that now without shooting themselves in the foot or better still, in head as they may lose their jobs when their bosses need a scapegoat. If SDP did not have the audio recordings and transcripts, I dread to think of the shit they would have put out to character assasinate Dr Chee and their opponents. Yes, they are just doing their jobs for the money, but, at what expense? Their dignity, soul or God?
Damien Toh  -     Fri, 04 Jul 2008 11:56 pm
Unfortunately, unless am very much mistaken, I believe this clarification here will not be published on the ST nor Today. So, majority will believe Dr Chee is lying.

Somehow the govt likes to take words uttered by their political rivals out of contex most of the time..

If you say to me that I called you "monkey donkey and Lukas Podosky" and I added why not you add in "Billions of Bilious Blue Blistering Barnacles! " or "Ten thousand thundering typhoons!" All the curses go to my account....

Don't belive read TinTin comics how captain Haddock curses :) :)

I think the secy reads too much of TinTin just like me lah... he he.
Low Fak Yew  -  Today Newspapers    Sat, 05 Jul 2008 12:05 am
How come this type of important news is published not in the ST papers? Why in TODAY?

Unless you subscribe, only private estates and landed propertys' residents get to read TODAY FOC.

Why TODAY ignores DR Chee's letter ?
Is this a plot against DR Chee?

We just don't understand. If you dare to challenge people to the cul-de-sac, then let's fight like a man, age is not an excuse.
Chew  -     Sat, 05 Jul 2008 12:18 am
I see this as another character assassination ploy by PAP.

They know that the grounds are shaking and they are scare of Chee's and other oppositions' soaring popularity. They know their selfish and self-profiting policies had caused the people to want to turn to alternatives.

They also know that they control the state medias which in turn, will publish only one side of the story - their side, no matter how twisted or false it may be.

I hate to say this, but PAP surely stunk to heaven high for me after this, not that it didn't stink before that.
truth  -  LKY has always been like that    Sat, 05 Jul 2008 12:30 am
This is the real LKY - a lying, bullying and cheating coward. He has been distorting the truth for far too long and get away with it. Now he must face up to the truth and the picture is very urgly.

Quote:
Jaslyn, I love your style which is non-contentious and non-aggressive, yet gets the right message across in a way that the common folk can readily appreciate and understand. I think that is the way to go.

Die lah, talk like that, apa "non-contentious" lah, "this is the RIGHT way lah", etc.

You're beginning to like the PAPpies who once they see people getting really fed up and about to rise up in anger, quickly try to dissipate anger by pointing out
who are the GOOD Opposition - mousy, balls-less and weasel-like Tiochiu Low - and who are the BAD Opposition - Ah Juan the Scapegoat lah, as usual, who else, haha -
to try to sow discord among not only the Other Side but Singaporeans in general, makes their rule that much easier with bogeymen around, see.

So there's no one right way or two, or three, to go about bringing change, helping to bring change.

As long as the cause is just - which is why you wanted change in the place, right, goodu-reans? - and the powers-that-be are unjust, unfair, unreasonable oppressive rulers with no mores and human conscience,
ANY WAY TO BRING FORTH CHANGE
- yes, violent struggles included; if that's the ONLY language the Establishment understands -
IS GAME.

Time to stop prescribing to PAP's way of dictating to you Singaporeans what is right opposition and what's no-no - then you're merely falling back into that trap from which you found hard to extricate yourselves.

Grow some brains, Singapoeans. It's time - way past due, in fact.

I will be there with you, with The Eighteen, inside and outside the courts - I've decided to stand out and stand up for - no, not for all of you, I ain't that noble, just for me, my family, my relatives and my ethnic Minnanese clan.

I'm 18+ONE - you may say I'm your proverbial 19th Man of 9/11.

Only this time it's 7/11 - 18 martyrs + 1 martyr-wannabee, heehee.

(Hope all 19 of us won't be martyred and die just yet.

Not until at least what is gonna happen 7/11 is/are gonna bring out MORE, MANY MANY MORE people out onto the streets and show 'em OUR FURY a la People Power - sorry not very original, I know, but that's the only way we must know and do to topple once and for all this system that's gone awry very quickly in these last 10 odd years, ever since those monkeys transformed themselves into bigger, filthier but filthy rich big gorillas with over-voracious appetites!)

Mdm Yeong's "transcript" of that speech of Davinder's put 'criminals, corrupt and covered up things in the NKF' within quotes, meaning to say that those words were the Chees', lifted from the article in the Democrat authored by them.

Is that true?

From the audio of the speech, those words sound like Davinder's own, representing his or his clients' inferences from the Chees' article alleging similarities in the way NKF and the government were run.

Davinder did not preface those sayings with saying "quote", neither did he end them with saying "unquote". So, how have the quotation marks got transcripted in?

Thank you, SDP. Due to your relentless effort in fighting against injustice for freedom and human rights, nowadays, more and more human Fridays are awakening. Keep on fighting. You have all my support despite my nickname which I gave it myself in honour of MM Lee. :-)
tohjohn  -     Sat, 05 Jul 2008 1:25 am
It's so clear cut.

It was D. Singh making the allegations with all the while. Twisting and turning what was said and what it meant.

LKY and LHL, both of you are cowards and both of you employ liars to do your dirty deeds. This makes both of you liars too
Ignorant citizen  -  狼來了。。狼來了!"    Sat, 05 Jul 2008 1:57 am
This incident reminds me of the story that I have learned from my primary school context "狼來了。。狼來了!"

Finally we will know who is the liar!
Truth  -  Expose LKY's Lies    Sat, 05 Jul 2008 1:57 am
Yes, I agree with the first response that we need to expose LKY's lie.

A short YOUTUBE video would be extremely helpful, as you can track how many people really see's it.

LKY has the entire media helping him, giving him an unfair disadvantage. Millions of people read the newspaper, compare to the much smaller number of people who read this website.

BTW, can you give us a feel of this site's TRAFFIC?? ie how many people visit the SDP website??

I also noticed that many of the other so called neutral websites like TOC website, contain only occassional references to SDP website... not a lot of references.

LKY's UNFAIR TACTICS really makes my blood boils!!!!
putra  -  WSJ Laughter    Sat, 05 Jul 2008 2:02 am
Yeong Yoon Yin's letter to Today may create a bigger laughter in WSJ than the laughter in the courtroom after Mr Singh was told that he might as well throw in murderers, robbers, child molesters and rapists.
