Tak Boleh Tahan! campaign goes to Bishan PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 04 July 2008

Singapore Democrats

The Tak Boleh Tahan! campaign rolls into Bishan estate this Sunday, 6 Jul 08. SDP members , activists, and supporters will be at the Bishan North Shopping Mall in the vicinity of Block 282, Street 22 from 8.30 to 11:30 am.

We'll be distributing flyers to raise awareness about the campaign and to encourage Singaporeans to stand up for their own rights.

Citizens all over the world are demanding their governments to do something about the escalating cost of living. In Singapore, people have been intimidated by the PAP into silence even as the Government raises the GST, increases ERP rates, jacks up medical fees and elevates electricity rates. We, as citizens, have the right to demand that the PAP stops this profiteering.

We will continue to highlight the plight of fixed-income earners saddled with the ever-increasing cost of living. So don your TBT t-shirts if you have one and join as at Bishan this Sunday. If you don't have one, come on down and get it and help us with the campaign!

Come and get to know the activists who have been so courageous in standing up for what all of you believe in.

Come and share our aspirations for a better, more caring and democratic Singapore!

Come and be a part of the change that is taking place.

Don't fear change, embrace it. Don't resist change, encourage it. Change is progress, change is hope.

Dear SDP and Members,

Once again, thank you for demostrating our peoples grievances and together we shall raise our voices to our government to help us lower our basic daily expenditures, just to cope up our decent and simple livings in Singapore.

I shall see you there for sure, Sir's.

snow leopard,

You are correct. We will be at Blk 289, St 22, Bishan and not Blk 282. Apologies for the error.

PAP sets its policy without much thought for the poor. They are full, so they don't understand the hungry. They are affordable, so they don't understand the struggle of the poor.

People need SDP and SDP needs the public support too. I urge commoners to participate in this meaningful strive ----- it's about you, for you.
Well Done SDP  -     Fri, 04 Jul 2008 8:20 pm

Man In The Mirror  -  SDP Propaganda Stickers.    Fri, 04 Jul 2008 10:23 pm
To SDP :

Distributing flyers is just one form of getting your message across, but they oftenly get thrown away or are misplaced after some time.

I believe we need a more lasting form of communication that stays around longer. I suggest you print and distribute propaganda stickers :

a) A sticker with the PAP logo and message "When they BREED, you BLEED !!" helps to remind people just how harmful a blood-money sucker PAP is.

b) A sticker showing an image of a person throwing a PAP logo into the dustbin with the message "Help keep Singapore democratic !!" is another good reminder that Singapore needs democracy.

Such SDP Propaganda Stickers certainly stays around longer. They also help to spread the SDP message to MORE people.

Dear Dr Chee,

While I truly admire your perseverance in standing tall against the oppressors of this island, Iam just wondering why do you think you could bring about a change with such demonstrations from time to time?

You guys will be charged with illegal assembly somehow and even if you do not, the gathering will be a small scale one attracting 20-30 people to take part at any one time. With such small scale of protest going on, how would it 'intimidate' the govt to mellow down and/or listen to its people? When we talk abt public protest and demonstrations which are effective in putting the incumbent govt under pressure, we are talking abt tens and twenties in thousands of people gathering..

I really would like to hear your rationale behind the staunch belief that such demonstrations can ruffle the feathers of PAP..

Jaslyn, I love your style which is non-contentious and non-aggressive, yet gets the right message across in a way that the common folk can readily appreciate and understand. I think that is the way to go.

Die lah, talk like that, apa "non-contentious" lah, "this is the RIGHT way lah", etc.

You're beginning to like the PAPpies who once they see people getting really fed up and about to rise up in anger,

Very, very novel and workable ideas, bravo!

Except for one.

Quite disingenious to call them PROPAGANDA stickers.

PROPAGANDA was for the USSR, the old Union of the Socialist Republics or Soviet Union, like Pravda - oi, not Prada of Milan lah, you goondu unread one.

PROPAGANDA was - still is - for CCP, the party Leesons once hated so much but like treat like their great great grandpa (in his usual mercenaric Hakka ways).

And PROPAGANDA was and is
- will be or not, all depends on what happens July 6 and immediately afterwards, on what you and I do from today, from this very defining moment on -
the Straits Times, Today, New (Old Tunes sung new style) Paper, Lianhe, Shin Min, SPH-L (Sing and Praise the House of Lee), Mediacorp, Raintree, RCS, International RCS (formerly RTS, SBC, TCS), Channel NewsAsia or CNA (trying to confuse and misleading by alluding to CNN initials yet can't even do 24-hour programming and still want to say Asia's best, even pay and organize awards for itself, as far away as New York City, wow, stylo-mylo),
PAProganda machine numero uno de Asias.

Daimien Toh,
Never underestimate the strength of small scale demonstration on the street. Any protest will have a impact on the street walker, I have the belief that one day the number of supporters will become enormous and fight against PAP. My prediction for PAP will be overthrown one day after the death of LKY . LHL is incapable to win support from their own peoples. I guess the majority of singaporeans will have this mind that he gain power becuase of his father LKY. Can LHL really buy support from his people unless he change the current PAP administration. Unless LHL can implement changes clearly for singaporeans having advantage over foreigners in term of benefits , they is a possibility PAP can gain some support. LKY belongs to 1950-1980 era, he has no understandings for the younger generation in Y2k, he is still very pesistant with his own ways of dealing politics, very obstinate and live his world like a god and thought he can do anything under his might. However we humans can live forever and die soon .It is either you want to REST in Peace with a good name or bad name. LKY has to choose carefully and very obvious , he is old and senile , speak lously ,giving poor advices , can't convince the public.
